The interview
What is your legacy after attending the Tax Lien Wealth Builders Workshop?
My legacy is now that I have an entire new world of wealth accessible. I went into the program because I was interested in real estate, and tax lien, and tax deed, but I did not know what was the possibility.
What was your situation before joining the program?
Being unemployed at that time, I was really trying to find a way to get into real estate, thinking I didn't have any possibility for any funding. The program opened an entire new world for me with all the resources available, whether it's from a HELOC, from a private lender, from a joint venture—all these possibilities I did not know existed.
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi, my name is Donat Barrault, I live in West Park, New York. I'm a real estate investor, and I run as well, a company for talent management.
Did you have any hesitations about attending the workshop?
I had no hesitation going to that workshop. I was very intrigued and very interested in it after seeing them online. I was completely swept away by the potential of it and added this as a lane of investment for my company.
What specific benefits did you experience from the program?
The ability they offered to add that lane of investment into my real estate journey. They made it very easy for me to understand the wealth I can get from tax lien, tax deeds, and the catalog is gigantic. I had no idea all this entire pool of wealth was accessible.
What happened when you tried to apply what you learned at auction?
I tried to purchase liens through different auctions. The good thing is they explain so well the process and show how easy it is. As long as you follow every step, you get the confidence you need because there is very minimal risk for you to invest. I went online and I bid on all these tax liens; I didn't get any of them because I'm not the only one out there, but I'm definitely continuing to do so because I know it will work.
How did the program change your perspective on funding?
I'm continuing to do all this auction, and if I get the tax lien, I'm going to be able to buy it through a system where I pulled the resources from my home equity line of credit, which I did not know I had access to. It helped really, truly spread my wings and my horizon in my investment journey.
What is your advice to someone hesitant to start?
If you're sitting on the fence, my recommendation to you is jump in the pool and swim. All these wealth, benefit, possibilities, opportunity, financial freedom day is just on the other side of your own fear, plain and simple.
