Nick Garcia reviewed OrthoLasVegas after a boating accident caused a distal bicep tear. While standard recovery is six months, Garcia returned to the gym in just over two months. He credits his rapid recovery to a custom plan from Dr. McGee and team that utilized stem cells, PRP, peptides, and cold therapy.

The interview

Who treated you and what was your initial impression of the team?

Dr. McGee, Jake, Taylor, the whole team was fantastic. The fact that he's so well-versed in all this and is able to offer it as a comprehensive care package, it's pretty awesome.

Can you describe the injury and how it happened?

My injury was a result of a boating accident. I was wake surfing behind a friend's boat. I tried to stay fallen when I probably shouldn't have. I held on a little too long. The rope yanked my arm and tore my distal bicep.

Why did you choose OrthoLasVegas for your treatment?

I had a couple friends that had used Ortho Las Vegas in the past. They were very much on the forefront of the treatments that were available, and they're used to working with athletes, people that stay fit, and that they would pretty much get me back on my feet as quickly as possible.

What specific treatments did the team offer you?

They went over all the available treatments with stem cells, platelet-rich plasma, peptides, cold therapy. I mean, they really have every tool available. They created a custom recovery plan that worked for me and in my budget and in my timeframe.

How did the recovery timeline compare to your expectations?

The standard recovery time for a distal bicep tear is around six months. I was back working out in the gym a little over two months. I was doing things that, showing range of motion and that sort of thing at the six-week mark that they said normally you wouldn't see until well over a month.

How would you describe the administrative and front-end experience?

I don't think there was a single appointment where I waited five minutes beyond my appointment time. They're very efficient. Taylor, the schedule coordinator, was constantly in contact. She made sure that I knew when all my appointments were. Everything's running incredibly efficient.

Are you continuing to use their services for long-term health?

I've continued with the team. I've talked to Kyra, who is really well-versed in all different manners of pretty much anything that you'd wanna be monitoring. They have the team that can basically keep an eye on my overall health and make sure that I'm not gonna run into those same issues like my dad.

Dr. McGee, Jake, Taylor, the, the whole team was fantastic. The standard recovery time for a distal bicep tear is around six months. I was back working out in the gym a little over two months. The fact that he's so well-versed in all this and is, is able to offer it as a comprehensive care package, it's pretty awesome. Hi, I'm Nick Garcia. I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada. I run the IT for the Naifeh Group veterinary system. So my injury was a result of a boating accident. I was wake surfing behind a friend's boat. I tried to stay fallen when I probably shouldn't have. I held on a little too long. The rope, uh, yanked my arm and tore my distal bicep. Luckily, um, I had a couple friends that had used, uh, Ortho Las Vegas in the past. Highly recommend it. Dr. McGee and the whole team was fantastic, so I, I set up an appointment shortly after with them. They were very much on the forefront of the treatments that were available, and that they're used to working with athletes, people that stay fit, and that they would pretty much get me back on my feet as quickly as possible. I work with computers, work with my hands a lot, so the idea of being in a sling or a cast for an extended period of time just, it wouldn't have been very good for my work. And, you know, after speaking with Jake, and then really the whole team to work with Las Vegas was absolutely fantastic. They went over all the available treatments with stem cells, platelet-rich plasma, peptides, cold therapy. I mean, they really have every tool available. I mean, nothing about it was cheap, unfortunately, but their prices were very much in line with everyone else, and they were willing to work with you on the price. It was nice that they presented options, and they sort of gave you a tiered approach. They were very much there for me, and they created a custom recovery plan that worked for me and in my budget and in my timeframe. I don't think there was a single appointment where I waited five minutes beyond my appointment time. They're very efficient. Taylor, the schedule coordinator, was constantly in contact. She made sure that I knew when all my appointments were. She made sure I had all the information I needed for pre-op, post-op, everything. I mean, can't say enough good things about the whole team. It was really, uh, top-notch care. We're all invincible, I think, in our twenties, and I'm in my late thirties now, so it was definitely a wake-up call that I really need to start taking care of things. I've continued with the team. I've talked to Kyra, who is really well-versed in all different manners of pretty much anything that you'd wanna be monitoring, looking at as you sort of get older and wanna maintain. Ortho Las Vegas really became a place for me that, like, I can talk to them about all these things, all these concerns, and they can run the tests. They have the team that can basically keep an eye on my overall health and make sure that I'm not gonna run into those same issues like my dad. They really, uh, offer services above and beyond what you would normally expect to find, and they really do offer kind of a whole solution to health. The thought of a six-month recovery was, like, super daunting. It's, like, kinda hard to not kinda get depressed looking at that and thinking, like, "I won't have full function." You don't really realize how much you use your arm until it's not available to you anymore. I mean, I was doing things that, showing range of motion and that sort of thing at the six-week mark that they said normally you wouldn't see until well over a month. That was a bit unexpected to me. I knew it was gonna help, I knew it was gonna be faster, but I didn't think it'd be that fast. And I know everybody's different, I know everybody doesn't have the means to do everything that I did, but if you do, it's worth it. They really are there for you throughout the whole process, before, during, and after. Like I said, the team's fantastic. It's a very well-oiled machine. And like I said, I work in the veterinary industry. I have quite a few animal hospitals, and so you can see what a well-run front end looks like, and they have it. Everything's running incredibly efficient. Communication's great. All the staff there was just absolutely top-notch.
