The interview

What was your initial impression of the tax lien education process?

It was an eye-opener to really a lot of things I didn't understand about even purchasing my own home, and about taxes. It really brought it forefront because it's like, 'Oh, my God, I could have been doing this years ago.' The knowledge I've gained about the tax process and how it affects individual taxes versus business taxes was really something that was shocking, but I'm glad I know it now.

Can you introduce yourself and your professional background?

Hi, I am Tim Donaldson. I live in Aspen Hill, Maryland. I've been doing this job—IT—for about 28 years. I've decided to learn a little bit about tax liens, tax deeds and hopefully eventually get to the point of flipping houses, maybe wholesaling.

How did you feel about starting the program and working with the coaches?

I went to the seminar and I felt a little nervous about it because I didn't know what to expect. But as I got to know my coach, Erin, she has been wonderful and I built some trust up with her—and Stephanie. We developed into a good working relationship so that builds my confidence in tax liens.

What was the quality of the instruction and support materials?

Erin was very instructional. I do love that I had a video that I can go back to if I had questions. I would say 99% of the questions I had were answered through the sessions. When I was doing it on my own and wondering 'Should I be doing this?', I would go back and listen to the video instructions and know where to go and how to do things.

How did you fund your tax lien investments?

I did roll over my 401k into my entity and I use those to purchase my tax liens. I feel more confident in moving forward. I hope eventually one day this will be a primary for me and my job will be a retired job and this would be my new career.

What is your final recommendation for those considering the program?

Sometimes you have to step out on faith and be pretty strong and encouraged that when you are working with this team they will guide you through the process. You will build more confidence and feel more assured. So, I do recommend it. If you can do it, do it. I think it's worth it.

Hi, I am Tim Donaldson. I live in Aspen Hill, Maryland. I've been doing this job - IT - for about 28 years. And Erin was very instructional. I do love that I had a video that I can go back to if I had questions. I would say, 99% of the questions I had we answered through the sessions. And so when I was doing it on my own it's like, "Should I be doing this?" And then I would go back and listen to the video instructions and like, "Oh, yeah, she DID tell me this" or "Oh, yes, this was in the instructions." And so I knew where to go and how to do things. It was very good. I did roll over my 401k into my entity and I use those to purchase my Tax Liens. I feel more confident in moving forward. I hope eventually one day this will be a primary for me and my job will be a retired job and this would be my new career, I hope. Well, my thing is this - sometimes you have to step out on faith and be pretty strong and encouraged that when you are working with this team they will guide you through the process and you will build more confidenc and feel more assured when you're working with this team. So, I do recommend it. If you can do it, do it. And if you know someone else who may want to do it or may be on the fence of what they want to do, go and try it. I think it's worth it.
