The interview
What is the experience of attending The Summit like?
It's knowing that you need to be here in this space with like-minded people. You will leave The Summit transformed, but you never know what part of you will be transformed. After last year's Summit, I was more jazzed-up about the work I was doing in the world. I was really excited to go back and serve my nation, my tribe.
What does it mean to you to find a 'tribe' through Mindshare?
For me, meeting my tribe, a group of like-minded people. Coming from a small island, there are very few of us. So this one means that I get to share and be in the company of people who truly understand what it is to heal patients.
What have you learned about communication and authenticity?
I have learned so much about being authentic and sharing authentically and also mindfully. I'm sure that by putting all of these things that I've learned into practice, I've certainly grown my tribe within the Caribbean.
How did you handle the challenge of niching down your practice?
One of the best things I learned was niching down. And having worked with the Mindshare coaches, I was able to get over my fear of niching down. And that brought me such clarity and a deeper sense of service, serving my community in ways that truly mattered.
How has your professional identity changed since joining Mindshare?
I can tell you that I have fully stepped into my power as a business entrepreneur. Beginning of when I first found Mindshare, I just saw myself as a doctor. Never saw myself as a business owner or somebody who needed to measure.
What business skills did you acquire that were missing from your medical training?
Now I'm learning the importance of metrics, the importance of tracking my numbers, which is something that, in medical school, nobody teaches you. But Mindshare showed me that it was so important if I wanted to grow my business. And in growing my business, I was able to serve more people.
