The interview

What was your situation before finding Dr. Erfan?

I had been diagnosed with kidney disease about six or seven years ago, and my GFR was falling. I wasn't getting help from any nephrologists; they all told me it was irreversible and the best you could do is maintain it, but I was declining.

How did you discover the Kidney Institute?

I was looking at kidney diets on YouTube, and the algorithm sent me a video of Dr. Erfan, which was very fortunate. When she spoke about what she does to treat kidney disease, I was hooked immediately.

What was different about Dr. Erfan's approach to GFR?

Other nephrologists said when a nephron is dead, it's dead, so your GFR can never go up. Dr. Erfan said while that is true, there are a lot of 'half-assed' nephrons that can be rehabilitated. That really appealed to my imagination, and in fact, my GFR since we began is up five points.

What did the treatment process involve?

It involved a lot of stuff, totally changing my diet for a time to all plant-based protein, and a tremendous amount of blood tests to figure out what was going on, from heavy metals and plastics to all kinds of infections in my body.

How did the treatment affect your other health conditions?

She put me on testosterone, and my PSA dropped from 12 to 8. My urologist was all in favor because it was obviously helping the inflammatory condition in my prostate. She also addressed my Crohn's disease and leaky gut, which no other doctor had connected to my kidneys.

Were you able to reduce any long-term medications?

She got me off of omeprazole, which is Prilosec, for acid. I've been on it for forty years and no doctor ever said I need to get off of it. She has helped me get it down to a very small dosage and hopefully it will disappear altogether.

How has this impacted your quality of life?

My energy is a lot better. The improvement of numbers is a tremendous indicator that I will not be going on dialysis. Also, for a 77-year-old guy, my libido and things are better than ever thanks to the testosterone.

Frequently asked

Is kidney disease GFR decline really irreversible?

While conventional nephrologists told Michael Levy his decline was irreversible, Dr. Erfan explained that 'half-assed' nephrons can be rehabilitated. Following her protocol, Michael saw his GFR increase by five points.

Does Kidney Institute address more than just kidney function?

Yes, Michael Levy noted that Dr. Erfan is a 'multisystem physician' who connected his Crohn’s disease and prostate inflammation to his kidney health, leading to a significant drop in his PSA levels.

Is the Kidney Institute program worth the investment?

Michael Levy acknowledges there is an expense involved but states he wouldn't hesitate to engage her again because of her unique expertise in combining board-certified nephrology with homeopathic methods.

Speaker 0: Hi. I'm Michael Levy. I live in Georgia, and I'm happily retired. Very happily. Erfang. Erfang. Erfang. Well, I have been diagnosed with kidney disease, about, six or seven years ago. And, my GFR, which is the what they used to measure the functioning of the kidneys, glomerular filtration rate was falling. I wasn't getting help from any nephrologists that I had seen. They all told me it was irreversible. The best you could do is maintain your GFR, but I was declining. And I saw actually, I was looking at kidney diets on YouTube, and the algorithm sent me a a video of doctor Erfan, which was very fortunate. Because when she spoke about what she does to to treat kidney disease, I was hooked immediately. And I was I've not been disappointed with, with what's happened since. Well, I she gave me answers that that I hadn't gotten from anyone else. You know, the whole thing about this GFR has to do with the nephrons and the kidneys, and you only have a certain amount of them, like 10,000,000. And so all the nephrologists that I spoke to before doctor Erfan said, well, when a nephron is dead, it's dead, so that's why your GFR can never go up again. And when I spoke to, doctor Erfan, she said, well, that's true. When a nephron is dead, it's dead. But there are a lot of kind of, you know, half assed nephrons going on in your kidneys that can be rehabilitated. And, that really appealed to my imagination that something like that could happen. And in fact, I have had a very good success with her, because my GFR since we began is up, five points, which is significant. And, it was beyond the the GFR level I had when I was at my high point with my other nephrologists. Of course, it involved a lot of stuff, totally changing my diet for a time, all plant based protein, and a tremendous amount of blood tests and to to figure out what was going on. And, of course, everything was going on from, you know, heavy metals and plastics to all kinds of infections in my body. So the the it was a bit of an adjustment to to to conform to all these these things, but totally doable. And, I began to see, very interesting results, especially recently. Doctor Erfan, put me on testosterone, which apparently can help the kidneys. It's the first time I heard about this. Doctor Erfan is a is a really a multisystem physician. Every specialist I've gone to and probably you've gone to, they just look at the system that that they specialize in. They don't make connections between other things going on with the with the person. For example, I have Crohn's disease, so that affects the kidneys. But nobody ever addressed that with me, but doctor Erfan did. And so she she got me taking testosterone, and I consulted with my urologist because that can affect your PSA. And, you know, if you have any trace of prostate cancer, it's like pouring gasoline on a fire. Anyway, so he said, alright. Do the blood test, and we'll see what's going on. Well, amazingly, my PSA dropped from 12, which is really high, to eight. And he's he was all in favor of the testosterone because it was obviously helping the inflammatory condition that was going on in my prostate. So I was shocked at this because it's never going down. I'm not hearing you. Think something is going on with with Riverside. Hi, Kelly. Can you hear me? I think yeah. I think something's going on at your end because of the picture I'm getting of you and the freezing and stuff like that. My my Wi Fi connection is fine. Me too. And you're still, have a staggered image. Well, sounds okay. Your image is still not good, but I don't know. I can. I'm more impatient. I live in Savannah. Well, what surprised me, so much was, doctor Erfan's expertise. She constantly said things that made a lot of sense to me that I never heard from other doctors. And, you know, the results were have been my GFR going up. She got me off of omeprazole, which is Prilosec, that type of proton blocker for acid, which I've been on for forty years. And no doctor it has side effects, fortunately I haven't had them, but no doctor has ever said, oh well you need to get off of this. But she has helped me, you know, get it down to where I take a very small dosage every day and hopefully will, know, disappear altogether. The consequences of that I think are enormous. And she, you know, there's an expense involved in this, but I think that people don't realize that the years that Doctor. Erfan has put into acquiring the knowledge that she utilizes to do things that traditional nephrologists don't do. Mean she's board certified in nephrology and internal medicine, So she's got the creds for that. And she has a huge understanding of alternative methods like homeopathic methods and supplements and things like that, which she combines to get very good results, at least by my own experience. The PSA test that I took that showed a huge reversal showed me that what she's doing is really dealing with the inflammatory condition of my body. It's not just my kidneys, it's also Crohn's disease and leaky gut and stuff like that. The combination of diet and supplements and her interpretation of the blood work really gets good results where other people would just say, oh well, you just gotta maintain, you're never gonna improve. But really improvement is possible in kidney disease as long as you're listening to the right doctor. So that's been my experience and very happy about it. Well, I Yeah. I'm very happy with with the results that that I got with, doctor Erfan at at the Kidney Institute. And certainly, if you have the resources to to engage her, I wouldn't hesitate one minute, to do it because from my experience, you're gonna see results that you're not gonna find elsewhere. It from the very first time I saw her on on YouTube, I I got that she was looking at this in a multisystem way, and she wasn't wasn't just gonna be treating my kidney disease. She was going to be treating all the things that caused the kidney disease in the first place. So I highly recommend, utilizing her vast knowledge. Well, I have a new girlfriend, so the testosterone helps. My energy is a lot better. You know, the the the kidney disease is something where where it isn't very symptomatic till you get to the end. So I have to go by the numbers, and the improvement of numbers is a tremendous indicator, to that I will not be going on dialysis somewhere down the road. So so that's that's really great. And, yeah, the testosterone is very interesting. No doctor had ever suggested that to me, and certainly never made a connection between the kidney function and the hormone. So I'm happy that I'm taking it. My libido was always pretty good, but know things are better than ever. So for a 77 year old guy, that's a pretty good result. Yes. Okay. Do it fast.
