Sarah Gregory recommends Integrative Health Carolinas for pediatric eczema treatment. After traditional allergists found no food-skin connection, Sarah used Dr. Temple’s virtual program to implement macro/micro-nutrient changes and gut healing. The result was a 'night and day' transformation where her son is now completely healed and living as a typical kid.

The interview

What would you say to someone considering working with Dr. Temple?

If you're considering working with Dr. Temple, I would 100% recommend them. I would start with them. I would stick with the program. You will find the answers that you're looking for. Even though this is an investment, it's worth it. The long-term stress relief that we have and just being able to live our lives without the burden of eczema has just been tremendous.

What was your experience like before finding Integrative Health Carolinas?

Before working with Dr. Temple, we were playing whack-a-mole. My son developed eczema right around the six-month mark. We had gone through our pediatrician and traditional medical routes but did not find solutions. I was really battling with decision fatigue from scouring Amazon for books and seeing so many different diets, recommendations, and creams.

What were the tipping points that led you to this holistic approach?

I met with an allergist to see if we could get screened because I suspected a food link, and the allergist told us, 'Absolutely not. There's no connection between eczema and foods.' Between the allergist saying there was nothing they could do and then really connecting with what Dr. Temple had laid out in her book, those were the two main tipping points.

How did you find the staff and the virtual program structure?

We found everyone there to be completely approachable. A lot of the people we worked with had children that had eczema, so they really met us emotionally where we were. Everything was online, virtual, and self-paced, so you could go through the course step by step. You also had complete access to the health coaches to get answers quickly and get things customized.

What specific methods did Dr. Temple use to treat the eczema?

She starts first with the macro/micro nutrients, looking at the nutritional profile. We cut dairy and gluten to build what he needed nutritionally without shorting him. She also treated the symptoms by giving recommendations for relief; instead of 100 creams, she gave five specific things to use while we built up his nutrition and healed his gut.

How has your life changed since completing the program?

Prior to the program, I was very stressed, constantly scouring my son's skin for new patches and worrying about every food trigger. Now it's completely different. I don't think about his skin. He's completely healed at this point. He is able to live life as a typical kid. From a mental and physical standpoint, it's been night and day.

Frequently asked

Is the investment in Dr. Temple's program worth the cost?

Sarah Gregory acknowledges that while the program is an investment, the long-term stress relief and the ability to live without the burden of eczema make it entirely worth it.

Can diet changes really help a child's eczema?

Yes, despite being told otherwise by a traditional allergist, Sarah found that cutting dairy and gluten while building up specific nutrients under Dr. Temple's guidance was a key tipping point for her son's healing.

How accessible are the providers in the virtual program?

Sarah noted that the virtual providers were highly accessible; she could post questions in the forum at any time and receive a response very quickly, which helped her tackle the issue faster than in-person appointments.

If you're considering working with Dr. Temple, I would 100% recommend them. I would start with them. I would stick with the program. You will find the answers that you're looking for. You know, if you're not comfortable just diving straight into the program, just see what Dr. Temple has to say, and I promise you that will resonate, and that even though this is an investment, it's worth it. The long-term stress relief that we have and just being able to live our lives without the burden of eczema has just been tremendous. Before working with Dr. Temple, we were, as Dr. Temple refers to, playing whack-a-mole. So my son developed eczema right around the six-month mark. We had gone through our pediatrician, some of the more traditional medical routes, did not find solutions there, and I had scoured Amazon for books on eczema. So I was really battling with decision fatigue. There were so many different diets out there, so many different recommendations, so many creams. I had learned about the connection between food and the gut, and so I met with an allergist to say, "Hey, you know, we're pretty desperate here. We think that this might be linked to food, potentially, and what he's eating. Can we get screened, you know, for allergies?" And the allergist told us, "You know, absolutely not. There's no connection between eczema and foods. We're not gonna do anything further. Basically, you need to figure it out on your own." I had read a number of different books about eczema, and when I got to Dr. Temple's book, it really resonated, her approach, 'cause it was multifaceted. So I would say between the allergist saying, "There's nothing we can do," and then also really connecting with what Dr. Temple had laid out in her book, those were probably the two main tipping points for us. We found everyone there to be completely approachable. A lot of the people that we worked with had had children that did have eczema, and so they really met us emotionally where we were at that time, which was very frustrated, looking for answers, and they sympathized with that. Everything was online, it was virtual, it was self-paced, so you could go through the course step by step. You also had complete access to the health coaches. It was great to get answers quickly. It was great to get things customized and dialed in to where it needed to be. So we just found the whole experience to be very helpful and really gave us the management that we were looking for. So Dr. Temple approaches eczema in multiple different ways. She starts first with the macro/micro nutrients, so looking at the nutritional profile. We're gonna cut our dairy and gluten. We're gonna build what we need to nutritionally for your son, but we're not gonna cut anything else, so he's not gonna be shorted nutritionally. So that helped it really calm us down from that perspective. And then I felt like she also treated the symptoms as well. She gave, you know, recommendations for relief. And instead of there being, you know, 100 different creams to select from, she said, "Okay, you know, here's five different things, for example, that you can use to help your son relieve the symptoms while you build up nutritionally." And I loved the science behind the gut and the brain and the immune system, and just everything that she explained in her course for how this eczema even happens. What's challenging when you're working with a doctor, really anyone in person, you have to schedule the appointment, you have to go, you've gotta meet with them, and it takes time. And for us, we really wanted to tackle this quickly, and having the virtual provider's so accessible. You know, anytime I had a question, I could post in the forum, and I'd get a response very quickly. Prior to the program, I was very stressed on a day-to-day. I was scouring my son's skin. I was looking for new patches. I mean, my mind was constantly on the eczema. I was looking at every food that he was taking, thinking, "Hey, is this gonna trigger him?" And now it's completely different. I don't think about his skin. I don't look for the eczema. He's completely healed at this point. Prior to the program, I had two goals. One was to help his comfort level, so remove the itch, you know, heal the eczema physically. But two, I wanted him to live life as a typical kid. So now he's able to do those things. And it took time. It took a lot of healing. It took commitment to cut, you know, the things that we needed to and to stick with the plan, stick with the supplements, stick with the gut healing. From a mental and physical standpoint, it's been night and day. The little everyday moments that you take for granted, we are now able to really enjoy, and I think that's probably been, you know, one of the biggest, biggest changes now. So we are so thankful for everything that Dr. Temple and her team did for us.
