The interview

Can you introduce yourself and where you live?

Hi there, my name is Maitland Wilson. I live in the Dutch Gardens community in Rome, Georgia. I work at the local Kroger here. I'm the backup manager for the drug GM department.

How did you find your home and what was the move-in process like?

Me and my at the time girlfriend was looking for a place to live and we had found a couple places, but then this one popped up on Zillow and we both liked the price of it and just the area it was in. And so I came here, took a tour of the place with the at the time manager, Christie. Next thing I know, Ms. Christie said, well, y'all got it. And we all can come on down and sign the paperwork and stuff. We moved in on August 1st of, I think, I guess it would have been 2023.

How has your experience been living here compared to an apartment?

It's just been a very pleasant experience being first time living on my own. It's really has been a nice experience. I do prefer living here than I would maybe a normal apartment building because I do like that sense of just my own single place. Trailer's big and I say I'm very comfortable here pretty much. It feels like home.

What is the neighborhood and community like?

No problem neighbors or whatever. Everyone seems to pretty much keep to their own. I think it's about six trailers down from me. There's actually a trailer that's been converted into a church. So again, just one of them other things of sense of community. We live right off the town, but it still gets dark out here. So I enjoy seeing looking up in the night sky and not just being, you know, bright still. It's very safe out here.

How does management handle maintenance issues?

A few weeks ago, my water pot busted. I called the manager and she got me set up with a plumbing service, came out here, fixed it, no problem. So the people that they use are very helpful.

What value do you get for the price of rent?

I mean, for the price of rent now here, especially now, like nowadays, I mean, this is a two bedroom, two bath place with a decent size living room and guest stove and a nice little kitchen area. And again, just the quietness of it.

Would you recommend Sunrise Community to others?

If you ever need anything, the manager out here, she will take care of you. She's super nice. So I would recommend it. The rent and stuff ain't bad and it's a nice little area to live in.
