The interview
What has been the primary impact of working with Neal Conlon?
Working with Neil has given me the confidence to do things in my business that I never imagined I would do. I was never a sales or business development person—I always operated from an internal operations perspective. But through working with Neil, I gained both the confidence and the practical know-how to put myself out there, take action, and truly move the needle in my business.
Can you introduce yourself and your professional background?
My name is Jared Koesten, and I live in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. I’m an executive coach and business advisor. Before working with Neil, I was a corporate Chief Human Resources Officer operating on a global scale. As I prepared to transition out of the corporate environment and launch my own consultancy, I realized I needed guidance on how to successfully make that move.
Why did you choose to work with Neal specifically?
I had known Neil for years, dating back to when one of the companies I worked for brought him in as a keynote speaker. When I decided to make my transition, I knew I wanted to work with him. He’s direct and to the point—which aligns with how I operate—but he’s also incredibly genuine. There’s no corporate jargon, no fluff, no placating.
What makes Neal's approach to client relationships unique?
Neil works with me as a person, not just as a client, and he does that better than anyone I’ve experienced. He checks in outside of scheduled sessions, shares resources, and is completely transparent about how he’s built his own success. He’s willing to 'open the hood' and show you the engine—explaining how he’s accomplished things in ways that directly resonate with what I’m building.
How has your business changed since starting the engagement?
Since working with Neil, my business has taken off in a meaningful way. I’m making the right contacts, having substantive conversations, and targeting my ideal client profile instead of just networking for the sake of it or chasing dopamine hits. The result has been real engagement and real conversions.
What would you say to someone considering working with Neal?
If someone is on the fence about working with Neil, I would tell them they’re crazy not to give it a shot. Neil brings something different. He has deep coaching experience, but he also brings a military mindset—one where 'no' isn’t an option and failure isn’t the outcome. With Neil, you don’t fail—you succeed.
