The interview
What big decisions have you made in your practice recently?
I made a big decision after Fill My Practice, which was to join a clinic in Barrie—Rooted Naturopathic Clinic. Running a clinic is a big job and it just was not my passion. Because I worked with Dr. Megan and knew the direction I was taking my business, I felt really able to make that decision with confidence. I've been there a year now and revenue has certainly doubled, like more than doubled.
What was your business like before working with Clinician Business Labs?
Before Clinician Business Labs and working with Dr. Megan in Fill My Practice, I would say my business lacked focus. There were a lot of ups and downs; there were periods where revenue was good and periods where it was not, so definitely inconsistent revenue. I was just spinning wheels, trying this and trying that, and not really knowing where to go next.
Why did you decide to join the program?
I decided to join just because it seemed like it was the right time for me. I was just tired of struggling. Dr. Megan was putting on something cool and new because I was in the first cohort of Fill My Practice. I've been a naturopath for a long time, going on 21 years, and I always was interested in what she was up to and decided finally it was the time.
What were your biggest shifts or breakthroughs?
I would say it was really like a mental thing. Mentally, going through a process of knowing what's important and really having direction. That's where I got a lot of strategy from Dr. Megan.
How did the program help you with your niche and systems?
I was able to really narrow down a niche and complete a program system of care for weight loss that I was really proud of. I did end up changing my niche later, but it was because of the business higher level thinking that Dr. Megan taught. I recognized an opportunity to change into a niche that was underserved—pediatrics—which I had good skills for because of my nursing background.
What would you say to someone considering joining?
I would say I think it's worth it. I think it's worth joining this group of people and being a part of Dr. Megan's world because you just don't know how she'll surprise you. I love going to Impact Lives; it's always a great event and she always surprises. It's always mind-blowing. If it feels right to you and it's the right time, then jump, don't hesitate.
