The interview

What would you say to someone thinking about working with Elizabeth?

If you're thinking about working with Elizabeth, just do it. If you are at a place in your life where you are willing to invest in yourself, take ownership of your patterns, and actively pursue change, you will not regret the investment. It will be life-changing. The coaching, guidance, and insight she provides is priceless.

What was your life like before you started the program?

I was stuck in a cycle of grief and food was my best friend. I had a lot of losses over the last couple of years and I took those losses to food. I wasn't investing positive things in my life, I had unhealthy patterns, I wasn't taking care of myself, and I wasn't exercising. I wasn't dealing with the underlying things to break free.

How did you find Elizabeth and why did you choose her?

I found Elizabeth's podcast and started listening to it. I wanted to be thoughtful and intentional and investigate someone that had a similar mindset to mine, and I felt like Elizabeth did. I took my time before I really decided to do the coaching.

What was your experience with GLP-1 medications in the program?

She doesn't shove GLP-1 down your throat, which I appreciate. She doesn't put you on it right away. She made me lose weight on my own so that I could see I could do it on my own. As time went on, it felt like a secondary piece; the primary work was really in my heart.

How did this compare to previous weight loss attempts like Optavia?

I tried Optavia and I didn't do well on it. It's soy-based and I missed real food. It didn't feel sustainable or like real life, and it didn't address the underlying things. It was just me using it as a control mechanism to try and lose a few pounds.

When did you start noticing results and what were they?

I noticed probably a month in that things started to shift. Mindsets and habits started to shift. Logging food wasn't something I dreaded; it was something I saw value in. The heart changes really came the last two months, diving into the larger stories at play to make food secondary and the rest of my life primary again.

What surprised you most about the coaching process?

What surprised me the most was the deeper things she was able to help me process and work through. I was surprised by how effective she is at drawing you out to heal what needs healed. I knew those things were there, but I wasn't anticipating the level of healing that took place in just three months.

How do you feel now that you have completed the program?

I really feel like I'm on a good foundation. I'm pursuing things that I love again, and I have balance with food again. I feel joy in my life that I didn't have before. My food noise is hardly there, and when it is, I have the tools to talk back in a healthy way. I'm more peaceful and I manage it; it doesn't manage me.

Frequently asked

Does Elizabeth McGann require you to use GLP-1 medications immediately?

No. Jennifer Dent appreciated that Elizabeth does not 'shove GLP-1 down your throat' and actually encouraged her to lose weight on her own first to prove she could do it before considering medication as a secondary piece.

How does Elizabeth McGann's program compare to programs like Optavia?

Jennifer found Optavia unsustainable because it was soy-based and lacked 'real food.' Unlike Optavia, which she used as a control mechanism, Elizabeth's program addressed the underlying emotional causes of her eating habits.

Is the investment in Elizabeth McGann's coaching worth it?

Jennifer describes the coaching as 'priceless' and the best investment she has made in herself in years. She emphasizes that the guidance and insight provided are life-changing for those willing to take ownership of their patterns.
