The interview
Would you recommend Darren Frank to other business owners?
If I was recommending Darren to another entrepreneur or business owner, I would say don't think twice. It's the best investment you could ever make, and you won't regret it.
What is your professional background and what challenges were you facing?
I'm Ashley Eskew, and I'm a physician in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a physician, we're trained very much in the practice of medicine, but not interpersonal relationships or the business of medicine or any of those sorts of things that come along with administration. Darren was really integrative in just helping me better navigate some of those difficult challenges that can just kinda come up over time when working for large organizations and/or even smaller practices as well.
What was your first impression of working with Darren?
I met with him, just had an initial conversation, and the way he approaches everything with such integrity and sincerity and just really thoughtful questions that you just wouldn't have thought about otherwise and kinda reframing thinking was really impactful even after meeting with him one time. And so it just seemed like a natural fit after that.
What specific improvements did Darren help you make in your practice?
Darren really helped to kinda narrow in on and help make improvements that I knew was gonna make a difference. I'd say there's several things really from every level of my professional and even interpersonal relationships there, from advocating for myself in terms of work-life balance to various aspects of getting additional support staff kind of from the ground up really. There wasn't any one area that he didn't help.
How has this coaching impacted your long-term career outlook?
Still to this day, I mean, has changed the way I approach work and I think has really improved my career longevity, to be honest.
What was the ultimate return on your investment?
When I started working with Darren, what I thought I was investing in was improving my business acumen and really kinda helping in terms of my professional-related coaching. But what I found was it was an investment not only in myself, but in my friends and family and kind of, you know, trickled down to really every type of relationship that I have. Value of the investment was invaluable. It has, yes, absolutely paid itself back 100 times over, and that's not an exaggeration.
What would you say to someone who is hesitant to start?
If someone was sitting on the fence, I would say have that initial meeting. Like, just take the chance and kinda see if it's a good fit. And if it's not, then that's okay. But again, you won't regret trying.
